Terms of Service
These terms govern the rental of a safe deposit box or mailbox from Siam Secure International Co., Ltd. in Pattaya, Thailand. They apply alongside the rental agreement you sign when your rental begins; where the two differ, the signed agreement takes precedence.
Your rental and your access
A rental runs for the term you choose and begins on the day it is opened. Access is available during opening hours, 7 days a week, 10am–8pm, subject to the closures we publish in advance.
Access is personal to you. We verify your identity before opening the vault, including by facial recognition where you have enrolled for it. You may nominate an additional authorised person; they are verified in the same way and may access the box on the same terms.
Your box opens with your key together with our master key. We hold no copy of your key. If you lose it, we cannot open the box for you without drilling it.
Fees, deposit and renewal
The rental fee is payable in advance for the whole term, by card, cash, bank transfer or an online payment link we send you. A refundable deposit of ฿2,000 per box (฿250 per mailbox) is taken when the rental opens.
We write to you before your term ends so you can renew. If you have asked us to renew automatically and given us a card for that purpose, we charge it on the day your term ends. If that charge does not go through, nothing happens to your box automatically — we tell you, and we continue to remind you in the ordinary way until you have paid.
You may withdraw your consent to automatic charging at any time from your account or by telling us.
Ending your rental
You may end your rental at any time. Empty your box, return your key during opening hours, and once the box has been checked your deposit is returned to you in full.
Rental you have already paid is not refunded for the part of the term you have not used. Most customers therefore keep the box until their term ends.
We may end a rental by giving you reasonable notice, or immediately if you breach these terms — in particular if you store something you are not permitted to store.
Lost keys
Tell us as soon as you know a key is lost. We will verify your identity, drill the box under supervision and fit a new lock.
Drilling and a replacement lock cost ฿6,000. Your deposit is applied to that cost, so the balance payable is ฿4,000. Where a rental was opened on an earlier, lower deposit, the balance is correspondingly higher.
If your rental is not renewed
If your term ends and you have not renewed, your box stays closed and we contact you — before the end date, and again afterwards, by the contact details you have given us. Keeping those details current is your responsibility.
Where a rental remains unpaid 90 days after it ended, or where an account is closed without the keys being returned, we may drill the box and remove its contents into secure storage. We will make reasonable efforts to reach you first.
Charges for drilling, the replacement lock, storage and any rental outstanding remain payable, and we may apply your deposit toward them.
What you may not store
You may not store anything unlawful, anything hazardous, flammable, explosive, corrosive or radioactive, living things, firearms or ammunition, drugs, or anything perishable or liable to decay, leak or give off odour.
You confirm that everything you place in your box is lawfully yours to store. We may refuse or require the removal of anything we consider unsuitable.
We do not inspect your box, and we ask no questions about its contents. That is the service. It also means these limits rest on your word, and storing something prohibited is a breach of these terms.
Contents, risk and insurance
We do not inspect, record, verify or value the items you place in your box, and we have no knowledge of them. Everything you store is stored at your own risk and remains your responsibility throughout.
We do not insure the contents of your box, and we give no undertaking to compensate you for their loss, damage or deterioration. Arranging any insurance you consider appropriate is your responsibility, and we recommend that you do so.
No relationship of bailment, deposit or custody over the contents arises between us. We provide a secured space and controlled access to it; we do not take your property into our keeping.
Because we keep no record of what is stored, we cannot verify any claim about the nature, quantity, condition or value of items said to have been placed in a box. Nothing in these terms is to be read as us accepting responsibility for items whose presence or value cannot be established.
Our responsibility
To the fullest extent permitted by Thai law, our liability to you is limited to loss arising directly from our own proven negligence. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
We are not responsible for a failure to provide access caused by something outside our reasonable control, including power failure, flood, fire, civil disturbance or an order of a public authority.
Changes, law and contact
We may amend these terms and our published price list from time to time. The price agreed in your signed rental agreement remains binding for the term you have paid for.
These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand, and the courts of Thailand have jurisdiction over any dispute.
